G.O.O.D. Music Compilation ‘Cruel Summer” Delayed
Yet another release from Kanye West is being postponed. If you can recall, Watch The Throne experienced multiple false release dates in 2011, and ‘Ye’s label compilation, Cruel Summer, may suffer the same fate.
Two sources over the past week indicated that more work is being done to the G.O.O.D. Music compilation, and Amazon has its release moved to September 18. The album, which corresponds with West’s short film of the same title that debuted this year at Cannes and featured Kid Cudi and Big Sean, was expected to come out before the end of the summer.
One of those sources was Malik Yusef, a friend and collaborator of the rapper and label manager. Yusef stated, on Twitter, that four factors are being changed for the release. He wrote: “yeah it looks like a push back on, #CRUELSUMMER but our wish has 4 additional features has MOSt DEFinitely been granted."
Yusef is not the only one in G.O.O.D. Music’s circle to comment on Cruel Summer. Hit-Boy also appears to be contributing to the release and, in an interview, mentioned: "We're going to be out there for a little bit, just helping Kanye finish up Cruel Summer and helping Kanye do his new ideas for his new stuff. Just fine tuning."
Watch the Throne, as well, experienced its share of “fine tuning,” but the attitude of perfectionism turned the West and Jay-Z collaboration into a fine product. What do you think is going on with Cruel Summer?
