Glee’s Lea Michele Announces Debut Album and First Single
For certain stars, Glee could very well become the springboard to a pop career, and based on statements from Lea Michele, that’s what she looks to be doing.
While the actress best known for playing role Rachel Berry on the Fox show has talked about putting together an album, she revealed greater details on November 27 – including the first single, a track called “Cannonball.”
The song, written by Sia, comes out next month when fans pre-order the full-length release, Louder. While an album release date hasn’t been revealed yet, Michele started recording late in 2012, and it’s expected to drop at some point over 2014. Previously, she talked about creating a pop/rock sound, rather than going to her Broadway roots.
In her Twitter update yesterday, she said: "I'VE GOT SOME VERY EXCITING NEWS TO SHARE WITH YOU GUYS..... :) So excited for everyone to hear my first single Cannonball, off my debut album LOUDER! #CANNONBALL”
Giving more details about the song, she went onto write: "WRITTEN BY THE AMAZING @sia!#CANNONBALL will be available instantly on Dec 10th with my album preorder!"
Of course, considering Michele’s background in Broadway and Glee, she’s had plenty of recording experience already. Glee has a rather extensive discography, and Michele has appeared in recordings for Broadway shows. Prior to being cast in Glee, she performed in Les Miserables, Rag Time, Fiddler on the Roof, and Spring Awakening.
