Glee Goes Country And Covers Toby Keith's 'Red Solo Cup'
The cast of Glee have recently presented their rendition of Toby Keith's recent chart hit Red Solo Cup, a simple country song about Solo Cup Company's plastic red cup. These disposable cups have become immensely popular for parties - because they're disposable, there is no problem of broken glass, and they are cheap.
"Red Solo Cup" is the second track to come off Toby Keith's recently released album Clancy's Tavern. The song is nothing more than a simple, sing-along ditty, but it has gone viral on YouTube because it is "so enjoyably simple". In short, it is a song everybody loves! The original Toby Keith clip can be seen at Red Solo Cup Video.
Glee actor, Chord Overstreet, dressed in country attire, straps on his guitar and loudly comments, "It's time y'all got a little country back in this joint." Suddenly, he starts strumming and sings, "Now a red solo cup is the best receptacle/ For barbecues, tailgates, fairs and festivals" while the rest of the Glee cast fill up their Red Cups with wine (at school???) and join in the camaraderie. "Red Solo Cup" has that effect on people ... it's one of those sing-along type songs where everyone just joins in!
The original music video for "Red Solo Cup" by Toby Keith is set at a party in a house. Everyone is of course drinking from the famed red cup and joining in with the chorus. The Glee version, in many ways, is very similar to the original video. People are drinking, having fun, and joining in with the chorus. Glee has done a great job with this song. This 'Glee' episode is titled "Hold Onto Sixteen", and is scheduled to be aired on 6th December.
