Glastonbury 2011 Line – up, Shapes – Up

The biggest open air festival in the world reveals more bands and artists which have signed up to perform at the gig Glastonbury 2011 Line – up, Shapes – Up

Despite The Rolling Stones not agreeing to play Glastonbury 2011, the open air musical festival event of the year still looks set to be one for the history books. The latest bands to join the line up are Primal Scream, who are currently touring on the back of their 1991 album Screamadelica, are set to headline The Other Stage on Friday 24th, with Mumford and Sons, the recent Brit award winners looking set to support them. Joining these two bands, Crystal Castles, Laura Marling, and Friendly Fires are also set to play the show.

So far, a total of 17 bands have been confirmed to play this year's Glastonbury Festival. With U2, Coldplay, and Beyonce headlining on the world famous Pyramid Stage on collective nights.

Coldplay were an afterthought following The Rolling Stones declining an invitation to play the show.

Though Glastonbury is a show that showcases the best old and new talent the music world has to offer from an eclectic collection of acts, the organisers do seem to have a knack of putting popular bands on at the same time. Previous years have seen The White Stripes play at the same time as Fatboy Slim and this year looks like no exception.

U2 will be strutting their stuff when Primal Scream will be performing. Though some clashes are unavoidable, the biggest band in the world playing at the same time as a band whose album Screamadelica is said to be the best in its class, does call into question the skill of the organisers.

The Glastonbury Festival takes place over the 24th, 25th, and 26th June.
