"Give It To Me" Video Review
They aren't here to hurt nobody, but they seemingly are intent on settling a few scores. For the first single from his upcoming solo album Timbaland Presents Shock Value, hotter-than-hot producer Timbaland is tapping the talents of recent production customers Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake. They both turn in instantly recognizable performances, and they have a few pointed things to say.
"Give It To Me," the first single from Timbaland's eagerly awaited solo album, has been around in leaked forms on the Internet for quite some time. I first reported on the track, and, in particular, the words sung by Justin Timberlake, last November and it ignited 42 comments from visitors to this site. Now the single has landed at pop radio and is beginning to swiftly climb the charts.
As would be expected from Timbaland, one of the hottest producers in the business, the rhythm track is intoxicating. It's also more amusing than upsetting to hear Nelly Furtado toying with those fans into her body parts, Timbaland, according to reports, settling scores with Scott Storch ("just the piano man"), and JT bragging about chart performance and the cleverness of "SexyBack". As the lyrics state, they "ain't here to hurt nobody." Instead, they "wanna see you work your body," and this will go down great in clubs.
On the down side, the record is a bit of a one-note production and becomes repetitive after a few listens. It doesn't match the three-dimensional depth of sound on Nelly Furtado's current hit "Say It Right" or the giddy bubbliness of Justin Timberlake's "My Love," but it is a fine appetizer for an album that I hope contains a more significant main course.
So enjoy Timbaland ft Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake - Give It To Me video
