George Strait Admits that Retiring Wasn't Easy

After an incredible 35-year career, the country superstar plans to scale it back a bit. George Strait Admits that Retiring Wasn't Easy

Regardless of the job, it can be really difficult to end an era, especially when it’s something you love.  George Strait is going through that right now.  The time has come for the aging country star to hang up his boots and take things a little easier.

Of course, he will still be embarking on his two-year Cowboy Rides Away tour but has decided that, when it’s done, his touring days are over.

Naturally, it was not an easy decision to make.

The proclaimed King of Country explains that he’s lost sleep over the possibility of retiring but, after much deliberation, decided that it was for the best.  He is comforted by the fact that, while he may not be touring, he will still be making music and doing some events.  At the same time, he has been performing on stage since the ‘80s and thinks it’s time to “maybe see if I can live without that part."

That makes complete sense.  Touring must be exhausting, even for the youngest stars but at the very least, Strait can look at his illustrious career and know that he’s given his all.

A member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, he explained that, even though he’s traveled the world, he hasn’t been able to actually see much since the day consists of resting, doing a sound check, performing in the show and then hitting the road.  There’s no time for sightseeing.  That must be hard!

Hopefully, with more time on his hands, Strait will be able to travel the world and see all of the things he wished he had time for!
