Game’s ‘R.E.D. Album’ Takes Billboard No. 1 on Debut
There is no hiding the fact Game’s latest disc “The R.E.D. Album” faced a lot of obstructions before it finally hit the US stores. Even though Game did his part of the studio work in a very time efficient manner, a series of post-production problems meant that the album nearly took two years before making its highly anticipated debut.
While the “Red Nation” rapper was kept waiting for a long time, the disc’s market performance suggests that it is worth the wait. According to Nielsen SoundScan, Game’s fourth studio album has sold 98,000 discs during its debut week in the market and therefore, it holds the number one spot on the Billboard chart.
Game’s starting two albums "The Documentary" and "Doctor's Advocate” both debuted on the number one position just like “The R.E.D. Album.” It should be noted that his third album “LAX” opened at the second spot in spite of selling 239,000 units straight away.
The second position on the latest Billboard chart is occupied by Jay-Z and Kanye West's joint effort "Watch the Throne," whose 94,000 copies were purchased by music enthusiasts last week.
Game however, shouldn’t get used to the top spot too much as Lil Wayne’s "Tha Carter IV” has been launched and it is tipped to sell at least 850,000 copies, which makes it a shoe-in for the top spot in next week’s listings.
