Fun. May Start Recording New Album Next Year
With hit single “We Are Young” making a splash on the charts and at award shows, Fun. had a very eventful year in 2012 and also in 2013. As they go on tour, their sights are set, somewhat in the distance, at a follow-up album, according to statements Jack Antonoff made in an interview with Billboard.
By July 6, the band ends up on the road for the Most Nights Summer Tour, and possibly in 2014, Fun. expect to start recording a follow up to Some Nights. They plan to be on the road through October.
Antonoff claims the group will take the same approach, doing most of the recording over two months. He went onto say: “So the next album will be the same thing. I assume some time at the beginning of next year we'd like to be in the studio, but that all depends on when the feeling hits and when we have a concept that's worthy. Until we have the parameters of what the album really is it's hard to hone in on them and work specifically on it, and we're not there yet."
Along with this, Fun. plan to continue with their own vision – the same strategy that gave them a success with Some Nights. Antonoff explained: “So the lesson we learned is we should do what we want, and if that has a chance of being successful it's great."
Some Nights’ single “We Are Young” spent six weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 – a record not achieved by a multi-person band since Nickelback in the early ‘00s. Along with this distinction, the track was downloaded 6 million times and earned Fun. the Song of the Year Award at the Grammys.
