Former Megadeth Bassist to be "Amazing Race" Competitor

The musician and his manager are very familiar with the stresses of traveling the world. Former Megadeth Bassist to be "Amazing Race" Competitor

The Amazing Race continues to be popular year after year and the contestants for the upcoming 21st edition of the show will feature James LoMenzo, who some may remember as the bass player for Megadeth as well as While Lion and Black Label Society.

James, who is now 53 years old, will be competing with his friend, entertainment lawyer Mark "Abba" Abbattista. James explained that Abba now manages a band called “Hell” which features musicians from many different bands and, because they’ve toured the globe together in that capacity so many times over the years, they feel that it gives them an advantage.  That very well may be the case.

The pair will compete against 10 other teams as they travel to nine countries with the ultimate goal of winning the largest cash prize in the show’s history - $2 million dollars.  I don’t know if I agree that people who have been celebrities should be allowed to compete against folks who have never seen that kind of money but it should be interesting for metal fans.

The season premiere of the The Amazing Race is set for Sept. 30th at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
