Following “Royals,” Lorde is “No Better” With New Single
After being one of the more unlikely artists to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Lorde looks to continue her success with new single “No Better.”
The New Zealand singer-songwriter pulled a risky move by releasing the track the same day as Beyonce’s self-titled album. Nevertheless, that approach may still have gotten her attention.
To announce the single, she put out a YouTube video stating: “Attention! Lorde just announced, mysteriously, a new single called ‘No Better’ listen!”
“No Better” comes after the unsuspecting success of “Royals.” The song made Lorde the first solo artist from New Zealand to top the Billboard Hot 100, supposedly selling 4 million copies so far. The track topped that singles chart for nine weeks.
Nevertheless, others have pointed out that Lorde now has the lifestyle of those she goes after in the song. In response, she said during an interview with the Kansas City Star: “I definitely don’t feel like I’m living in a particularly extravagant sort of way — which I think is good because I think for me, personally, if I was thrown into that kind of thing, I wouldn’t know how to deal with it.”
Aside from “No Better,” her cover of Tears For Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule The World” was added to the Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack. Listen to “No Better” here:
