Florence And The Machine 'Never Let Me Go' Music Video
Florence + The Machine have just released the music video for Never Let Me Go, the fourth single to come off their latest album Ceremonials. Florence Welch steals the show again with her magnificent voice, as she sings about love and how it affects her. She explains her feelings toward her one and only, how she can't survive without him - "never let me go".
The music video features Florence and her love interest (played by Twilight actor James Campbell Bower) when they meet up at a skating rink later after everyone has left. Only a cleaner is around, it is at night and the weather is gloomy. The scene looks cold and bleak.
In many ways, the clip begins with some bizarre scenes - grungy water overflowing in a sink, dark liquid trickling down over Florence's face, an orderly cleaning with a mop and bucket. One can only feel sad.
Yet, there is a massive rise of elation when the couple meet up on the rink arena. They tightly hold each other as they skate around. Their faces light up showing absolute happiness, they are together, they are free to move around. It is sheer bliss. Florence reminds us to "never let me go". Her voice is so powerful, so enchanting. The song places her in a class of her own.
The video concludes with Florence alone and the scene goes back to being gloomy once more. Yet she continues to repeatedly sing the chorus "never let me go". Desperate in her attempts to rekindle the joyful memories, she falls into a dark oblivion ... alone.
In many ways, the video is mysterious, yet one can understand how high a person can feel when all is well, and how low you can go afterward.
It is an incredible video, but without doubt it showcases the brilliance of the Florence Welch voice.
