Fans Celebrate 40 Years - Jim Morrison
Fans from around the world have paid homage to Jim Morrison, the legendary singer/songwriter for The Doors.
Even though this rock group entertained fans back in the 1960’s, the sounds of The Doors still continues to attract fans young and old. The haunting sound of Riders On The Storm is known "sound by sound" by just about every living soul on the planet. And many rock stars have tried to release their version of Light My Fire, but the majority of listeners still prefer to hear the age-old version of The Doors with the brilliant guitar solos and fantastic keyboard rhythms (in the clip at the end). And of course, another favourite is the song, Touch Me.
Jim Morrison was a man ahead of his time.
It is now forty years since the rock’n’roll icon was found dead, yet the legend lives on. Hordes of fans have paid homage to Jim Morrison at his grave in Paris. Sunday was the exact day of remembrance, and the usual few visitors to the Pere Lachaise Cemetery grew to a huge crowd as rock fans from around the world came to mark this special anniversary.
Many of the visitors were not even born when Morrison was a living star. According to one visitor, the music of the man will live forever, saying, "None of it is dated. His music, his words, his message - everything about Jim Morrison is up to date."
Back in 1971, the police publicly announced that Morrison was found dead in his bathtub, after bleeding to death from a drug overdose. No autopsy was done, as the coroner viewed no suspicious circumstances. Since then, of course, there have been numerous conspiracy theories. But Jim Morrison had just reached him time.
Fans are still enjoying his music, and are still attracting more enthusiasts who enjoy The Doors' unique sound. Many mothers and fathers have passed on the enjoyment of this music to their sons and daughters. The Doors are timeless.
A visit to their website gives much of their music and some of their later work.
