Evanescence Going On Hiatus
Sometimes you’ve just got to take a break and clear your head. At least that’s what rock band Evanescence intends on doing after they wrap up UK dates on their tour. The band’s front woman Amy Lee announced that the band will most likely be going on hiatus, but don't worry because the band is just fine!
The gothic diva says, "I haven't been sitting down to write. I'm thinking we'll take a break first. I'm really not sure what I'll do next. At the end of any really long tour, you need to get your head in order. I think at the end of the run, we'll go on a break for a while and figure things out."
She also explains that she rather focus on producing quality albums than worry about staying current, "Taking long breaks is seen as a bad thing, but I don't think it's a bad thing. People have the idea that you have to keep putting stuff out while people remember you. But I'd rather make something that's awesome and then make people remember again."
That’s great to hear! A lot of modern artists seem to jeopardize artistry for the sake of being just like everyone else. Obviously, as a songwriter, Amy has a passion for music and it’s refreshing to see someone put genuine effort into it.
Taking breaks in production is not a new thing for Evanescence who were on hiatus after the release of their 2006 album, The Open Door, which sold five million copies. The band then released a self-titled third album in October of 2011, and the band is currently on tour promoting this latest effort.
