Eminem Working on Eighth Studio Album
Hint of a new 2013 album surfaced on Eminem’s official website in 2013. A baseball cap stitched with release dates for all of the rapper’s albums included 2013 but offered no further information. According to an interview with Shady Records president Paul Rosenberg, an eighth album is indeed in the works and scheduled for release in the second half of the year.
In talking about all major releases Shady has lined up for the year, Rosenberg stated: "We fully expect to be releasing a new Eminem album in 2013. He’s been working on it for some time. It’s safe to say that it will be post-Memorial Day at some point, but we’re not exactly sure when. We’ve got some dates locked in for him to perform live in Europe in August, so we’re trying to see what else lines up."
The release would be a follow-up to 2010’s Recovery.
Shady Records has multiple high-profile releases planned for this year. Aside from Eminem’s still-untitled eighth studio effort, the label plans to put out Yelawolf’s sophomore album; work on this began recently in Nashville. 50 Cent’s long-delayed Street King Immortal is scheduled to appear in the first half of the year, although an official date was not announced. Solo projects from Slaughterhouse members are also planned.
Aside from new releases, Shady has plans for increased branding, including launch of an improved website with new merchandise and features for fans.
