Elton John May Leave Music for Fatherhood

When the time comes, the British superstar will have no problem giving up fame for his son. Elton John May Leave Music for Fatherhood

Becoming a parent is a life-changing experience that often leads people to re-evaluate their goals and modify their priorities. Celebrities are not any different in this regard, including megastars like Sir Elton John.

The 65-year-old is the first time father to 19-month old, Zachary, whom he had via surrogate with his civil partner, David Furnish.  Now, instead of figuring out which outlandish outfit he plans to wear to his next performance, he is enjoying life at a much slower pace.  In fact, he likes it so much that he thinks about a day when he might give up the spotlight to be a stay-at-home dad.

''While I'm feeling good, I'm going to keep working," John admits. "When Zachary goes to school, that's another different thing.  I want to take him to school and I want to pick him up. I don't want to miss that part of his childhood.''

Although, John is a gay man who supports equalized rights for all families, he is realistic about how having two fathers will impact his son. ''It's going to be heartbreaking for him to grow up and realize he hasn't got a mummy, but he's so happy. I've never seen a more contented child. And you have never seen two more contented people as David and I.''

What about a sibling for the little guy? ''I'd love to have more children. I want Zachary to have a brother or a sister to go to school with him, and so that he can have someone to play with.''

Perhaps, by the time John retires, there will be a home full of children for him to love.
