Elton John Biopic, Rocketman, Almost Ready To Start Production
A biographical movie dramatizing the life of superstar, Elton John, is now in the planning stages. Elton John himself, has stated that he would like Justin Timberlake to take on the lead role.
The screenplay is finished, having been carefully crafted by Lee Hall, the author of the highly successful movie Billy Elliot - a heartening film documenting the life and times of a young boy who wanted to dance despite living in a coal mining town.
When asked about the project, John said, "We have a director on board, and then it's just going to be a matter of getting the script exactly the way we want it. Lee Hall has written a script – he wrote Billy Elliot - and then we'll start trying to cast and plan."
Titled "Rocketman", the project already has a director, but the script needs fine-tuning. When that's all done, casting and planning will begin. The movie will dramatize the important aspects of Elton John's career in music; it will not document a straightforward history of his life.
It has been hinted that musical sequences using the singer's hits will be used, telling the story of Elton John's life starting from when he was a child prodigy to the time when he became a global phenomenon - roughly 1990.
This will be the second time that John has collaborated with Lee Hall - they worked together on adapting the Billy Elliot film to a successful stage musical.
The movie is being produced through Rocket Pictures, the movie company which recently released Gnomeo & Juliet 3D.
No release dates have yet been speculated.
