Duran Duran is a British 80s pop band that has refused to die. Unlike their contemporaries such as Spandau Ballet, and Wham, Duran Duran has managed to endure and continue to write, record, and release music.

In 2007 they collaborated with Timbaland for their album, Red Carpet Massacre. The pairing came about as an idea from their record label, Sony music, who suggested Timbaland to make the material they had written more pop sounding.

Guitarist John Taylor said: "That whole project was a fucking nightmare. We delivered an album to Sony that was a natural-sounding, almost rock album and they were like, 'We need something a bit pop, do you fancy doing a couple of track with Timbaland?'"

It wasnt just John Taylor who was unhappy during the project, Nick Rhodes the keyboard player with the band stated there were communication problems between them [Duran Duran] and Timbaland. "When Timbaland saw the guitar and the bass and the drums come in to the studio, I think he was mortified because everythings in a box for those guys," he said. "But I'm really glad we made that album, because in time I think it will stand up."

Duran Duran, not surprisingly opted for a different producer, when they recorded All You Need Is Now. Mark Ronson, the acclaimed producer of Amy Winehouses efforts stepped in to fill Timbalands shoes. So far, none of the band has had a bad word to say about him.
