Duran Duran's 'Unstaged' Concert
US film director, David Lynch, will direct a live webcast of Duran Duran's upcoming "Unstaged" concert from the Mayan Theatre in Los Angeles on March 23 to fans across the world. "Unstaged" is a series of webcast concerts run by YouTube,American Express and VEVO. Previous webcast concerts for Unstaged have featured Arcade Fire (directed by Terry Gilliam), John Legend and the Roots (Spike Lee) and Sugarland (Kenny Ortega).
David Lynch is best known for his surrealist films, but has also directed famous movies including "Mulholland Drive" and "Wild at Heart". Talking about this upcoming event, he said, "The idea is to try and create on the fly, layers of images permeating Duran Duran on the stage. A world of experimentation and hopefully some happy accidents."
Duran Duran will release their latest album "All You Need Is Now" on March 22, the day before their concert. The live stream of the concert will be available via youtube.com/duranduranvevo, and will continue to be offered for about a month.
Talking about the event, keyboard player Nick Rhodes said to Billboard Online, "What appeals to us very much about working with David is that we like the way he thinks about things and how he's always gone out on a limb to make things different than anybody else. He works completely outside of the system, and that's what we try to do. I think the combustion between us and David should create something that nobody's ever seen before, something mysterious and magical and surprising."
The upcoming album "All You Need Is Now" was released on iTunes last December, hitting the number 1 spot on the download charts in an amazing 15 countries including the UK.
The title track 'All You Need Is Now" has been free to download since last December exclusively in iTunes.
