Duran Duran Releases The Music Video For 'Girl Panic!'

Eighties Icons Duran Duran Has Released Another Single And Clip From Their Latest Album 'All You Need To Know' Duran Duran Releases The Music Video For 'Girl Panic!'

Duran Duran has just released the music video for Girl Panic! – the second single to be released from their latest album All You Need Is Now. The band has been sending hits to the top of the charts since the 1980s, and is in the race to do it again.

The music video features – wait for it – supermodels Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen, Yasmin Le Bon, and Eva Herzigova all dressed as Duran Duran as they go for an expensive frolic around London in Rolls Royce limousine. (Note the number plate: GIRL PANIC ).

They begin filming at the opulent Savoy in London. It is the morning after, showing the "rockers" slowly waking up after having fallen asleep wherever they passed out. But these folks look pretty good for first thing in the morning!

In a clip that runs for over nine minutes, we see all the glitz, lipstick and legs one can handle while "Girl Panic!" is played in the background. There is no mistaking the signature Duran Duran sound. And when you are on a good thing, stick to it!

However, the twist in this mini-film is that the gorgeous beauties have been collected together to "sing and play" the instruments of the iconic English rockers. Sub-titles even appear stating who is acting as whom.

The press even asks them questions … questions typical of the paparazzi like, "What is your favourite place to play when you are on tour?"

Later in the clip, the supermodels act out the role of Duran Duran playing the band instruments and lip-synching the song. It is a bizarre idea. One is drawn to watching the total video, just to see how it ends. And, by the way, there is a new song being showcased throughout!

Perhaps it all works because we know that they were once (and still are) very famous and their wish to invert  and gently mock their roles says more about the ease and confidence that these players have than any effort to strenuously assert that they are meteorite stars- of course in a perverse way the gentle banality discreetly serves to resurrect their meteorite status and our willingness to give into lush mock- something that mustn’t had been lost on them when they started shooting.
