Drake’s ‘Nothing Was The Same’ Leaked a Week Ahead
Drake joins the legion of artists seeing their releases leaked ahead of schedule over the past few months, from Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Britney Spears to Avicii. The only thing is, his entire third album, Nothing Was The Same, made it onto the internet over the weekend.
Sunday evening, all 13 tracks from Nothing surfaced online. According to reports, only three collaborations were included: a Jay-Z track with a lyric about Perry, Detail, and Majid Jordan. This report contrasts from tracks Drake gave as previews earlier in the summer, including “Jodeci Freestyle” with J. Cole and “The Motion” with Sampha, and a preview from Rolling Stone that both Jay Z and Lil Wayne were collaborating with the “Hold On, We’re Going Home” singer.
The release had originally been scheduled for September 24 before its leak. Unlike Gaga, Drake doesn’t appear to have plans to release anything ahead of schedule. To support, he begins a tour starting September 25, co-headlining with Future and Miguel.
Reviews consider Nothing Drake’s strongest album yet. If you heard the leak, what did you think?
All details for the album were revealed back in June. The release follows 2011’s Take Care – considered a departure from the rapper/singer’s debut. We’ll have to wait and see how Nothing Was The Same does on the charts, especially considering its leak. Its predecessor sold 631,000 copies its first week.
