Drake Reveals First Single from ‘Take Care’ Follow-Up
For the past few months, Drake has been low key, but at the end of last week, a single emerged called “Started From The Bottom.” Considered the first track from his follow-up to Take Care, “Started From The Bottom” drops the slick production for a raw approach, and the rapper trades his usually braggadocio for honesty.
Rather than accompany it with a press release or put it on the radio, Drake made the track available through Soundcloud and, as of February 1, had more than 79,000 plays. The song, additionally, was expected to debut at the Grammys, before the former Degrassi star decided to release it online. Speaking about the song on his blog, the Canadian-born rapper wrote: "I feel sometimes that people don’t have enough information about my beginnings and therefore they make up a life story for me that isn’t consistent with actual events. I did not buy my way into this spot and it was the furthest thing from easy to achieve. I am proud of every part of my past and I’m excited for this song to find a place in your life as well."

Since the track’s debut last week, other well-known artists have responded with their own remixes. By February 2, Wiz Khalifa put out a take with his own rhymes. Soon after, Soulja Boy put out a version in which he replaced one of Drake’s verses with his own.
Although “Started From The Bottom” is just the first glimpse of Drake’s third album, the rapper/singer has been involved in other projects, including a posthumous release for Aaliyah and, announced recently, a collaboration with T-Boz.
