Drake Hints at Making a Fourth Studio Album in New Track
Is it now a new YMCMB promotional strategy for artists to release one-off tracks that hint at their next major release in the lyrics? That’s what Nicki Minaj has been doing for The Pink Print, and Drake has now done the same for a possible fourth studio album.
Recently, Drizzy put out a track called “0 to the 100/The Catch Up” out through his October’s Very Own website. In it, the lyrics indicate he may have an album planned for spring 2015. He says: "Listen up boy you're better off eavesdroppin'/ We already got spring 2015 poppin'/ PND droppin', OB droppin', Majid Jordan droppin', not to mention me droppin'."
You can hear the track in full through his Soundcloud page.
This release would follow the very successful Nothing Was The Same, which came out in November 2013 on Young Money, Cash Money, and Republic Records.
Drake sought out a wide range of collaborators for this release. Appearing as guest artists were 2 Chainz, Big Sean, Jay-Z, and Jheane Aiko, while production came from Noah Shebib, Boi-1da, Mike Zombie, Majid Jordan, Chilly Gonzalez, Hudson Mohawke, and several others.
The release reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and started off with buzz from “Started From The Bottom” and “Hold On, We’re Going Home.” Other singles included “All My,” “Pound Cake,” “The Language,” and “Too Much.”
