Dr. Dre and Kendrick Lamar to Collaborate on Detox

K. Dot claims to have been confirmed for a Detox appearence- a guarantee that hasn't even been given to 50 Cent. Dr. Dre and Kendrick Lamar to Collaborate on Detox

Any upstart MC who says that he doesn’t want a Dr. Dre beat on his album must either be a liar or insane. Kendrick Lamar isn’t one of those crazy fellas. In addition to building up his own album ‘Section 80,’ the West Coast rapper has also been chipping in on Dre’s much-awaited and delayed collection Detox, wherever necessary.

In return for his help, Dre is supervising Lamar’s indie LP, but so far, there have been no reports of Dre providing any beats for the 23 year old and the Compton born MC confirmed that in his recent interview with MTV.

So why hasn’t a collaboration between the two happened yet? Lamar explained, "I didn't want no work yet. That's the crazy part — I didn't. I wanted to go full just me — me and my team. I wanted to save that [Dre collaboration] for something bigger. Bigger would be Detox. My first, me and Dre, I want them to hear it on Detox."

Dre has been heard supporting Lamar’s talents on multiple occasions now but whatever chemistry they have got going between them, has not been transformed into a formal contract or a business deal. The Black Hippy-member said, "As far as the music, we got a chemistry that's unmatched to me. Alongside with the music, we just talk about stuff, just talk about life in general. I think that's why we clash together so perfect, because he sees a good kid in a bad city the same way he grew up. So we can talk about certain situations that he never talked about. I think right there alone, it's a blessing to me — for a personal relationship with him, not just the music."

When asked about the possibility of him signing up with Dre’s Aftermath, Lamar tried to avoid the topic and simply commented, "It's been in the air," with a grin on his face.

While he may not know which record label is going to snap him up, what he does know is that Dre will reserve a spot for him on Detox- a guarantee, which hasn’t even been given to big name artists like 50 Cent. The Hiii Power-rapper claimed, "Nah, I'm confirmed a few times."
