"Doesn't Mean Anything" is the lead single from Alicia's December 1 release "The Element of Freedom". "You dream of having all these things, you dream of going all these places. But what's the point of doing that, having that, if the one you want to be there isn't with you?," Alicia said when explaining about the song.

The music video was filmed from September 27–28, 2009 and was directed by P. R. Brown.
