DMX to Appear and Release His Newest Song on Dr. Drew's Lifechangers Show
Now that DMX has changed his life for the better, he wants to help change others lives, too.
The rapper, who was recently released from serving an eight month prison sentence for violating probation, will appear on Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers television show. He will join forces with the psychologist in attempting to rescue a troubled Los Angeles teen from a life of crime and legal woes.
In the two-part special, DMX will first sit down with Dr. Drew to discuss his own tumultuous rise, fall and eventual revival in the music industry, partly due to his battles with drug abuse, before speaking with the at-risk teen, who is yet to be named. DMX and Dr. Drew hope to keep the youngster from following in the legacy of his imprisoned older brothers by exposing him to the alternative of pursuing a music career. All of this will culminate in the release of the rapper’s newest song, a gospel track entitled, “Keep Ya Head Up.”
Though his drug and legal stints have put an eight year dent in the Party Up star’s career, DMX has signed a deal with United Music & Media Group and is working on material that he hopes will secure his spot among hip-hop’s elite once again.
“I start each day with a prayer,” said DMX. “The Lord has never forsaken me, even when men have. I agreed to be on this show so that my fans can see with their own eyes that X is back and I’m ready to be back on top.”
Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers will air at 3 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, on the CW.
