Dizzee Rascal Starts New Year With A Free Mixtape

Dizzee Rascal has just jumped into the new year with a release of a free mixtape download, titled "Dirteetv.com" which promotes the UK rappers new online video channel.

On the 25-track mixtape are guest appearances from various artists including Kano, Example, Newham Generals and Scufizzer. Also, guest audio from several DJs like Tim Westwood, Zane Lowe, and Annie Mac, make this one blistering collection - all for free. Mixed by DJ MK of Kiss 100, the download was produced by the in-house team of Dizzee Rascal's Dirtee Stank Label.

Dizzee had a break from music last year, but is back on the scene again for 2012 after signing a new record deal with Universal Music. It is believed that Dizzee has collaborated with guitarist Benji Madden (from Good Charlotte) on some of his new material. In a recent tweet, Madden wrote that fans will "love" the new direction of Dizzee's latest music.

Further proof that his music will be different follows Dizzee's admission that he wanted to have more of a rock edge about it, stating how he would like to recruit Dave Grohl (singer/guitarist Foo Fighters). He said: "I'd love to have him [Grohl] in the studio just to see how he views things."

Dizzee Rascal has also previously collaborated with the Arctic Monkeys and has often referred to his love of Nirvana, especially the chart-topping track Smells Like Teen Spirit. So much is he bent on moving into a more "rock direction", that Dizzee often covers this Nirvana track in his shows.

Dizzee's fifth album, a follow-up to 2009's Tongue N' Cheek, is expected out soon.
