Diplomats 'Humbled' at Working with Dr. Dre
The Diplomats started their mainstream rap journey at the beginning of the new century, using the beats of up and comer producers such as The Heatmakerz and Just Blaze. But now for the first time in the group's career, the 40 Cal rappers have got the chance to work with the legendary rap pioneer Dr. Dre.
Although the quality of the end product is unknown so far, still the quartet of Jim Jones, Cam'ron, Freaky Zekey and Juelz Santana has revealed that working with the West Coast maestro was different than everything they have ever been a part of.
Jones told MTV News, "He definitely made me rap my verse like 33 times. It was cool. It was a great experience."
Cam'ron also revealed that he was a victim of Dre's perfectionist musical character. "He made me get out and do my verse over. He's real intricate. Basically, he was like, 'I want this kind of flow,' and he'll mumble it out. It was like, 'Yo, go do that again; it's terrible,' "the Dipset MC said.
The Diplomat and Dre link-up was made possible by Interscope chairman Jimmy Lovine, who is reportedly close to signing up the group for his company. This was confirmed by Jones himself when he branded their chances of being associated with Interscope as 'Lou Ferrigno strong.'
