Dierks Bentley to Release 'Country & Cold Cans' EP in August

Despite having a chart-topping album out already, Bentley is releasing new music. Dierks Bentley to Release 'Country & Cold Cans' EP in August

Dierks Bentley is reinventing himself yet again.  After releasing a bluegrass style album a few years ago, he’s putting out four-song EP, Country & Cold Cans, which was just a little something he wanted to do with his buddies.

He explained: "Sometimes that should be the driving force in your decisions, you know?  It doesn't always have to be a business decision or well-thought-out plan. Just go out there, have fun, do it with some friends and put out some new tunes."

Due out on August 21, 2012, the EP will available for download only and, in an effort to promote the release, Bentley will be performing at the University of South Carolina, the University of Georgia and the University of Mississippi from August 20-22, 2012.

Of course, this new music is in addition to his current album, Home, which has yielded his 10th #1 single “5-1-5-0” which is the third chart-topper from the album.

Because the styles of the two releases are so different, Bentley isn’t worried about the singles competing with each other and his goal is to gear towards young listeners who are curious about the genre: "It's called 'Country & Cold Cans,'" Bentley said. "It's not called Beethoven."
