Did Crystal Meth Cause Britney Spears' Breakdown?

In a lawsuit against the singer's parents, a former manager has made serious claims. Did Crystal Meth Cause Britney Spears' Breakdown?

Everyone can remember it.  Roughly five years ago, it seemed like Britney Spears had completely lost her mind.  She was hanging out with the wrong crowd, forgetting to wear shoes or panties, and acting erratically (culminating in wielding an umbrella and shaving off all of her hair).

It was a sad sight since, up until that point, she had had such an illustrious career and was a new mother.  During that time, she seemed to be joined at the hip with her former manager, Sam Lutfi.  She confided in him and he seemed to be by her side all the time until her parents intervened.

After Spears was involuntarily held in a psychiatric facility, her mother and father successfully petitioned a court to put a conservatorship in place so that they could have ultimate control over her money, business and personal life.  During that time, Spears’ parents accused Lutfi of supplying their superstar daughter with drugs and steering her in the wrong direction.  Of course, he was also fired.

Now, the former manager is suing, claiming he had been trying to help his client and feels that he has been painted in a negative light and unjustly prevented from collecting the 15 percent of Spears’ earnings that he feels are owed to him.

Lufti states that one of the first things he did after being hired was to have drug-sniffing dogs search Spears’ house and, he alleges, they tracked a substance that appeared to be crystal meth.  He feels that he has been made a scapegoat for Spears’ problems when they existed before he even started working for her.  As a result, he is suing for millions of dollars for lost income and defamation of character.

This will definitely be a complicated case and some believe that it will be settled before it really gets going to prevent Lutfi from sharing information about Spears that could be detrimental to her career.
