Details Revealed About Lady Gaga’s ‘ARTPOP’ Album in Facebook Post
Last year, Lady Gaga’s third full-length album ARTPOP appeared poised to drop during the first half of the year. That deadline has come and went, without any status update – official or on social media. That is, until recently.
Gaga’s camp dropped a weighty Facebook post with all the details we have been waiting for since last fall. On the basic level, we know ARTPOP drops November 11, and as the “About” section of her Facebook page shows, the first single – no title yet – comes out on August 19.
The “Big Bang,” as the post called it, presents a “reverse Warhol” experience – unfortunately, the release does little in explaining this statement. Perhaps, it ties into “shar[ing] the adrenaline of fame” or allowing fans, through the album app, to share projects, chat, and watch its status until the official debut.
But, making a statement much like Ke$ha when talking about Warrior, the Facebook post mentions ARTPOP will “bring the music industry into a new age,” one in which “art drives pop.” While – and this maybe explains the “reverse Warhol” experience – her team says “the artist once again is in control of the ‘icon,’” the day before the album drops is an artRave – or, specifically, an event of the Haus of Gaga’s projects and collaborations with visual and performance artists Inez & Vinoodh, Robert Wilson, Marina Abramovic, and Jeff Koons.
So, beyond a release date, single, and a few wordy paragraphs about how industry-changing ARTPOP is, the listener doesn’t know a whole lot about what to expect. What do you make about Gaga’s statement?
