Demi Lovato Denies "Hard Partying" Reports
When Disney’s “it girl” checked herself into a rehab facility, it shocked just about everyone. The Sunny with a Chance star was suffering and, finally, things got bad enough to warrant a three-month stay at the treatment center and, since then, things seem to be improving by the day for the young star. The new X Factor judge even recently kicked two rappers off the stage after hearing them rap about bath salts.
There is something else that Demi Lovato takes very seriously – reports that she’s “not as sober as she's leading everyone to believe and is still partying hard."
Her rep immediately commented, saying the claims are "total bs" which, hopefully, is true since she’s been such an inspiration to many who are facing similar struggles. She has been so open with her recovery process, recently even discussing her past with self-harming.
When talking about how this all got started, she explained: "[Club] promoters gave me drugs and alcohol in restaurants or clubs. They wanted me to come back so I would be seen there. They were basically kissing my ass. Being a celebrity can be dangerous. Nobody says ‘no’."
She went on to say: "I'm not gonna lie. I was self-medicating. I was doing things like drinking and using [drugs], like a lot of teens do to numb their pain. [But now] I don't drink, I don't do drugs."
Now, she says she has found ways to cope and resist falling into the same patterns: "I surround myself with people who make positive decisions and who have more interests than wanting to go to clubs and get wasted. My friends and I look out for each other, and I love just inviting everyone over to watch TV. I like 'Law & Order'—except it makes me want to go out and inspect everyone on the street to see if they're a serial killer!"
Hopefully, she truly is in a good place and, if so, the negative people really need to stop trying to bring her down.
