Def Leppard to Release First Live Album

British rock band Def Leppard are to release their first ever complete live album. The closest the band had ever come was a four track EP entitled, 'Live: In The Clubs, In Your Face' which was recorded in 1992 in Germany.

Despite being together for thirty years, and earning praise for their live performances the band have never put together a live album. Currently, the band have their sound engineer going through tracks from their recent world tour, all four hard drives of it.

Through this process the band are hoping to pick out their best performances, which is a little time consuming to say the least, as each track from every gig has to be listened to several times.

Joe Elliot, lead singer commented, "We've got the entire tour backed up onto three or four hard drives. So we have the unenviable task of listening to probably 50 versions of every song we've ever played."

He added, "You've got to listen to them (the songs) two or three times to make sure nothing bad slips through. By autumn we should have it [the live album] down though."

Def Leppard has recently completed a world tour, which encompassed European, Asian, and America. The band however cancelled the last leg of the North American tour citing "unforeseen personal matters" as the reason and denied all rumours of a break - up. The band are planning a new studio album as well as the live one, and plan to tour again in 2011.

Def Leppard are also releasing their back catalogue on iTunes.
