Dawn Richard performed her first solo show at The Roxy in West Hollywood on Thursday, October 20.

“You have officially popped my cherry on my first show,” said Richard to the crowd before launching into her high-caliber performance.

The former Danity Kane and Dirty Money superstar had no problems owning the stage as she performed covers of Aaliyah’s “Rock the Boat,” Kanye West’s “Runaway” and Chaka Khan’s “Ain’t Nobody.” The singer also performed a song off her current mixtape, A Tell Tale Heart and gave the crowd a taste of music from her upcoming album, GoldenHeart.

Richard even took concertgoers back in time with her sexy, one-person rendition of Danity Kane’s “Sucka For Love” and Dirty Money’s “Ass on the Floor,” precluding the numbers by saying, “I’m gonna take y’all down memory lane.”

Sporting an asymmetrical bob and and a thigh-baring midnight black ensemble, Richard’s near-perfect voice and presence owned the stage. Her performance of “Bulletproof” was the most moving, as the live band behind her bolstered ocean deep lyrics and an unstoppable voice Even the crowd was prompted to sing along.

Richard looked like a true veteran and showed no signs of stress about the night being her first show. With a debut performance such as Thursday night’s, she is sure to have an extremely long musical career.

GoldenHeart is due in stores next year. It will be the first in a three-part series of albums including BlackHeart and RedemptionHeart.
