David Guetta’s “Where Dem Girls At” Video Premieres
Early this morning, the video for David Guetta’s “Where Dem Girls At” finally premiered, two months after the song was leaked. Since being leaked, “Where Dem Girls At” was promptly released by Guetta on iTunes, has sold 800,000 digital copies, and reached Number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has been in the top 10 in more than 15 countries.
The track, which was introduced by the DJ in March at the Carnaval of Salvador de Bahia, features Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj and is the second single off Guetta’s upcoming album Nothing but the Beat, which is expected to be released on August 30. In addition to appearances by Minaj and Flo Rida, the album will also see cameos by Usher, Dev, Will.i.am, Snoop Dogg, Akon, Jennifer Hudson, and Timbaland. In short, Nothing but the Beat appears to be another pop-house work with urban influences, a standard for Guetta at this point, although the French producer mentioned that rock will be an influence: "I might make dance music but that doesn't mean I'm not influenced by bands like Kings of Leon and Coldplay.”
“Where Dem Girls At” is no different. The video itself is rushed and unoriginal, likely a result of quickly adding a visual to a song released two months ago. Like any Guetta video, “Where Dem Girls At” features the guest artists more so than Guetta, who is mostly seen in the background behind his mixing desk. Mostly, though, the video features a bubble traveling through Los Angeles (yes, you read that right) and a bunch of girls dancing. Compared to videos for “Who’s that Chick?” and last year’s “Gettin’ Over You,” “Where Dem Girls At” is bland.
The track itself is standard Guetta, the house-pop sound that finally made him breakout in the United States after nearly a decade. Watch the new video here:
