David Guetta Appearing on Will.i.am Solo Album ‘#willpower’
The quality of the track is debatable, but “I Gotta Feeling” made French house producer David Guetta a U.S. household name and likely ushered in dance music’s current high point. Could another hit in this vein be far behind?
According to Ne-Yo, in a CapitalFM.com interview, such a track is in the works. Although Guetta, releasing fifth studio album Nothing But The Beat last year, does not appear to have a solo project in the works, the Black Eyed Peas’ ringleader does. The guest appearances on #willpower include not only Ne-Yo but also the “Where Them Girls At” hitmaker. Ne-Yo said: "[I] got in with Will for his new album, actually it was me Will and David Guetta that did something together. [He's] another musical genius that's just a genuinely good person – that's Will.i.am."
As the summer music season, in Ibiza and the rest of Europe, has already started, Guetta is busy with performing, and the iTunes Festival was just added to his plate. Scheduled for September 15 during the month-long event, Guetta is one of the headliners, along with Jack White, Usher, One Direction, and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
Essentially bringing back dance music’s popularity to the U.S., and perhaps even enhancing it globally, Guetta recently paid it forward by mentoring at burn studios’ Residency bootcamp. A global effort that assists aspiring DJs achieve residencies at Ibiza clubs Privilege, Café Mambo, and Sankeys, the Residency bootcamp has 11 finalists being tutored by professionals. This year, Guetta, Sasha, Richie Hawtin, and Luciano were the established producers guiding the up-and-comers.
