Dave Grohl Honored with 900 Pound Drumsticks

The singer/drummer has been honored by his hometown in a more unique way than is usual. Dave Grohl Honored with 900 Pound Drumsticks

The hometown of Dave Grohl has found a creative way of honoring its native son, foregoing the tradition of just giving him a key to the city.  Warren, Ohio has created 900 pound drumsticks from huge poplar logs which will be on display at the Warren Amphitheater starting this Saturday, July 7, 2012.  They will remain on display until sometime in September when they will be relocated to Dave Grohl Alley.  It should be mentioned that, while he was born in Warren, Grohl was actually raised in Virginia.

Of course, the drumsticks are a nod to Grohl’s musical talents, especially after becoming famous for being the drummer for Nirvana.  Some people fail to make the connection since he has found such great success as the lead singers for Foo Fighters, a band with a decisively different sound.

The giant drumsticks were further personalized by having feathers etched into them which is meant to represent the tattoos Grohl has on his arms.

I haven’t been able to find any pictures which isn’t surprising since they won’t be unveiled until the festivities this weekend.
