Darren Hayes Premieres 'Black Out The Sun' Video and 'Bloodstained Heart'
The 'Truly Madly Deeply' pop singer/songwriter surprised fans by uploading a cinematic new music video for 'Black Out The Sun' merely hours after posting an audio track of 'Bloodstained Heart', which was first heard on an X Factor Australia commercial.
'Black Out The Sun' will serve as Darren's second international single from his forthcoming fourth solo album "Secret Codes and Battleships". The song, co-written by Darren and Swedish pop producer Carl Falk (who also hemmed his last single 'Talk Talk Talk'), has been described as a "beautiful black rose of love lost".
Darren explained in a Facebook post that the song was about "not wanting to be in a world without love" and how the video was a poetic reflection of the lyrics.
"[I had this] idea that you could simply switch the sun off and the ground would turn to poison because all the things that made it beautiful were really in the reflection of the eyes of the person you've lost," he said.

Darren Hayes wrote the video treatment and teamed up with Australian director Grant Marshall, who worked on Hayes' early solo videos 'Crush (1980 Me)' and 'I Miss You'. The production is appropriately set in a barren desert land with elaborate cinematic lighting and effects to complement the song's dramatic Middle Eastern-influenced beats.
'Black Out The Sun' was shot in Darren's home town of Brisbane, Australia - in the same Village Roadshow studio where blockbuster movies like "Chronicles of Narnia" and "Peter Pan" were filmed.
The pop singer will release the single internationally on 2 October to coincide with the new album launch and corresponding UK tour.
Meanwhile, fans in Australia will be treated to a different single - 'Bloodstained Heart', which has been described a glorious pop ballad recalling the finesse of the Savage Garden era.
The emotive song is set to drop in Australia on 5 September to coincide with Hayes' X Factor guest mentor appearance in the local series.
