Country Singer Mindy McCready Found Dead
On Sunday, country singer Mindy McCready was found dead on the porch of her Heber Springs, Ark., home. The Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office sent officers to the scene after neighbors said they heard gun shots. After arriving, they found McCready killed her dog before killing herself.
The report from the sheriff’s office read:"At 3:31 PM, Sunday, February 17th Deputies from the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a report of gun shots fired in the area of 1132 Fox Chase Drive in Heber Springs. Officers arrived on the scene at 3:58 PM and discovered the body of 37 year old Melinda Gayle McCready on the front porch of the residence at 1132 Fox Chase. Ms. McCready was pronounced dead at the scene from what appears to be a single self-inflicted gunshot wound. At this time family members have been notified of the incident. Ms. Mcready will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and the matter will be fully investigated."
McCready found success in the mid- and late 1990s with a pair of albums and string of singles. Since that point, however, she has primarily made the news for her relationships and legal troubles. A few years ago, she became involved with record producer David Wilson, with whom she had a son, Zayne, in April 2012. Wilson died from a reported self-inflicted gunshot wound, although, as of February 18, his dead is being examined as a possible homicide. Some speculate the country singer was involved with his death.
Billy Knight, one of McCready’s former boyfriends, said that the country singer recently threatened to kill herself after losing custody of her older son. Since Wilson’s death on January 13, both boys were placed in foster care after McCready’s father expressed concern, telling a judge the country singer wasn’t taking care of herself and her children.
