Earlier today (February 6), country music singer/actor Randy Travis was found heavily intoxicated in his truck, which was parked in front of Sanger, Texas' First Baptist Church. The six-time Grammy Award winner was immediately apprehended by the local cops and was charged with public drunkenness.

Sanger Police Chief Curtis Amyx told the press: "An officer detected an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from the person, and he noticed an open bottle of wine in the passenger side of the vehicle. His speech was slurred and the officer had a hard time understanding what he was trying to stay."

According to Amyx, Travis spent a few hours behind bars before being released. The police did charge the 52-year old star with public intoxication, an offence that can result in a monetary penalty of up to $500.

Amyx further added that Travis was simply sitting in the driver's seat and the car was not in motion. It is why he was not charged with the offence of drunken driving.

Travis is considered a major star of the country music world, although he has shifted his focus to gospel music in the past decade or so. The "Everything And All" crooner has also acted in a number of movies and was a part of the television show "Touched by an Angel," which aired in the 90s.
