Colbie Caillat Releasing "Christmas in the Sand"

I don’t know about you but my first thought when I think about Christmastime is definitely not sand.  It is, however, the image that Colbie Caillat wants us to conjure up.  Her upcoming holiday album, Christmas in the Sand, becomes available on October 23, 2012 and she drew upon unique inspiration to meet fans who may have never experienced a white Christmas.

As she explained to Billboard: "I was like, 'Not everyone lives in the snow or cold places for Christmas, so why don't we write some songs for them to be able to relate to what their Christmas is like."

Interestingly enough, despite the unique tone of this album, it does include 10 classic holiday songs but also features five original tracks and collaborations with Brad Paisley ("Merry Christmas Baby") and Gavin DeGraw ("Baby It's Cold Outside").

To really capture the feeling, Caillat actually recorded the album wearing her bathing suit in the California sun and taking dips into the swimming pool with her mom and dogs. 

I think this album will really resonate with the fans who live in warmer climates but also those who have chosen to go on a vacation to a beach destination for the holidays.
