Coachella Shocker: Music Festival Leaving Indio
Coachella has always had a reputation for wanting to give the fans what they deserve which is why they are known as one of the nation’s biggest and best music festivals. It shouldn’t be surprising then that, rather than compromise their values, they have elected to change locations, rendering them homeless.
Always set in Indio, Coachella made the move after the California city proposed an $18 ticket tax for 2014. That’s insanity! Fans would not be happy about that and it’s good to see that Coachella refuses to be associated with that!
The event has a long history in Indio, a town just outside of Palm Springs, but organizers feel that the city has been ungrateful for the business Coachella has brought them over the years and that this proposal, which hasn’t even been passed, was the last straw. Goldenvoice, which promotes Coachella, will also be removing their Stagecoach Festival from the city.
Not a smart move on the part of the Indio officials. All sorts of things happen every year at Coachella, including the hologram performance by Tupac at the latest one.
If you’re planning to go to the last one in Indio, grab your tickets now. They have already gone on sale for the event which will take place April 12-14 and 19-21, 2013.
