"Closer" Video Review

On New Years 2003, Bleed the Dream was just as their name reads, the pieces had not yet come together, the concept in dream state. Keith Thompson had left Baltimore a year earlier to follow his musical dreams. A month into 2003, Brandon Thomas left Baltimore to check out what Keith had been raving about to his friend back east. By Spring, Bleed the Dream was a reality. Four musicians who had come together by their common love of expression through musical poetry.

Learning from their pasts as members of big bands in small scenes, the leap to LA for the two east-coast boys was their chance to be heard. If you want to make it in the music business, you need to tour, you need fans. For the next year, the band polished their sound and piled in a van, working their way from city to city. This effort paid off and garnered them a spot on the Warped Tour through old-fashioned networking and without an album under their belts. They were asked back to join Warped Tour officially in 2004 and 2005.

In 2004, Bleed The Dreams's Dave Aguilera created his own label, Maphia Records and subesquently released 2 EPs: rock-driven "Awake" on Noize Pollution, the unplugged and acoustic "Asleep". They followed both released with a DVD "No Apologies" reminiscent of the CKY videos. The DVD was edited by Scott Gottlieb from pieces of tour footage and behind the scene fan cameras.

Their success and rapid-growing fan base was noted by Warped Tour creator, Kevin Lyman. Realizing that Bleed the Dream was onto something, Lyman created his own label, WARCON Enterprises LLC and signed the band and released Bleed The Dream's first full-length album, "Built By Blood" in May 2005.

Spring of 2005 landed them on the Taste of Chaos tour featuring The Used and My Chemical Romance. Scott was unable to take the rough life of touring on the road. So the band played on and dedicated each show to his recovery. Unfortunately, as their star was rising, Scott became sick and weak. A year earlier, Spring 2004, while on a national tour, he fell down during a performance. The band cut their set short to rush him to the hospital. Scott was diagnosed as having leukemia. He lost his short battle with cancer on April 10, 2005. Only two weeks before the band released "Built by Blood". Their CD release party at the Ottobar in Baltimore, Maryland on April 23, was tearful and triumphant in the same breath. Friends and Family came out to pay their respects to Scott and support the band in the next phase of their life without him.

Bleed the Dream finished out 2005 by joining Taste Of Chaos Europe with headliners "The Used" and Story of the Year. In December, the band took some time off to write and audition new drummers. They now have a permanent drummer, Tom who had recently entered the band. Brandon Thomas was soon let go from the band. Mark has now permanently entered the band as the new lead singer.

In August 2006, the band released 2 demos on their Myspace page. The intent was to show off their new singer and let the fans get a sneak peak of their new material. The songs were posted for only a few days.

In late 2006, the band finished filming a music video for the song "Closer," the first single off their new album, "Killer Inside" due out April 10, 2007. The video shows the aftermath of a terrible car-wreck, leaving the band members bloodied and hospitalized. The Bleed The Dream - Closer video can be watched above.
