Christina Aguilera Preparing for New Album
Christina Aguilera’s follow-up to 2010’s Bionic may actually materialize, instead of simply being “is she or isn’t she?” gossip fodder. Reports of new material surfacing go back to late 2011, when Perez Hilton revealed on the radio that the singer would have a new single drop before the end of the year. The track never hit the airwaves, and fans are left wondering, “What’s going on?”
Of course, the pop star has been busy with two successful seasons of The Voice, but the album, according to a recent Twitter update, is in the cards. Reported earlier this week, Aguilera tweeted pictures of her album cover photo shoot, showing streaks of purple in her blond locks. She wrote: "Album cover photoshoot day! Music video shoots soon. Getting closer. Thrilled to be back in my "artist mode". Kisses!"
Over a week before, a new track surfaced online. Titled “Easier to Lie,” the song is supposedly produced by Savan Kotecha and Max Martin, although Aguilera claims the track is not her first single.
On the other hand, a collaboration with Cee Lo Green may be one of the tracks. While Aguilera hasn’t described in depth her recording activities, in April, Green made a statement about their working together, mentioning that Aguilera already recorded her part and he had yet to do his. Such a collaboration, on the other hand, is not the singers’ first time together. Outside of The Voice, the two recorded a duet titled “Nasty,” originally intended for the Burlesque soundtrack but never made the cut.
As far as delays are concerned, Aguilera previously revealed, in an interview with Christina Milian, that she didn’t think The Voice would be as great of a success as it has become. Instead, she originally considered it a side project, indicating that recording for her upcoming effort began even before the television show’s first season.
