Christina Aguilera Poses Nude for Cover of ‘Lotus’
Perhaps symbolic of her supposed career rebirth, the cover of Christina Aguilera’s upcoming studio album, Lotus, features the singer nude – sort of. Rather than a blatant or grotesque display, a la Marilyn Manson in his Mechanical Animal days, Aguilera’s is implied and Photoshopped.
The singer, last week, revealed the cover art via Twitter. Fans got a glimpse of Aguilera emerging out of a lotus. The flower obscures her lower half, while long blond locks cover the upper half of her torso. The cover art can be seen to the right. What’s your perspective – appropriate or tasteless? Does she go as low in a career redirection as she did during her “Dirrty” days?
Over the past months, between new single “Your Body” and the third season of The Voice beginning, Aguilera revealed Lotus’ release date – November 13. The Voice as served as a career resurgence for the singer, after her last effort Bionic failed to do well on the charts. Because of her nearly three seasons’ of work, building and mentoring a team of aspiring singers, Aguilera recently explained that her time on the television show inspired this release, including this season, which features a team of primarily pop vocalists. To promote this release, however, the singer is cutting her time short on the television program.
Aside from Voice inspiration, Lotus is a rebirth for the singer. Previously she explained that fans should expect a combination of club songs and ballads, and hopes to not only stay faithful to her fans with Lotus but to additionally attract new listeners.
