Christina Aguilera Meets Old Pal in 'The Voice' Auditioning
One of the major promotional strategies of American reality talent show "The Voice" is its blind auditioning of the contestants and in the latest episode of the show, it was judge Christina Aguilera, who got to meet a surprising personality that brought back old memories for her.
"The Voice" season 2 premiere featured a bunch of interesting candidates, but episode 2 was dominated by a 36-year old singer Tony Lucca.
Lucca, who was one of Christina Aguilera's former castmates on the variety talent show "The Mickey Mouse Club" in the 90s, showed that he still has his singing talents intact by performing Ray LaMontagne's "Trouble," which captivated everyone in attendance.
Aguilera immediately liked what Lucca sang but she failed to recognise who he was.
"It does take a true talent to jolt us out of our seats and make us push our buttons, so thank you for that, first of all. You have such a beautiful, silky quality to your tone and I appreciate you making us all push our buttons," the "Genie in a Bottle" singer told Lucca.
But after a few minutes, Aguilera realized who Lucca was and she went backstage to say hi to her former colleague.
She then told him: "I remember Britney (Spears, another fellow Mouseketeer) had the biggest crush on you."
After the end of "The Mickey Mouse Club" in 1994, Lucca chose not to take the mainstream pop music path chosen by a number of his castmates including Aguilera, Spears, Justin Timberlake, etc. Instead, he unsuccessfully tried to make it as an actor in Hollywood, before resuming his music career in 1997.
