Christina Aguilera Hints at Eighth Album
These days, Christina Aguilera makes it into the news for her second pregnancy, but with the exception of The Voice, her own music is essentially a secondary note. 2012’s Lotus turned into a moderate success, but one, with lesser sales and no definitive hit, that’s lower down in her career.
However, the singer once known for getting “Dirrty” has other plans. In talking about being pregnant with her second child, Aguilera revealed that she has a new album in the works, as well.
She said: "So blissful in taking this time for creating all things blossoming new on the horizon...album, baby & beautiful music to come."
We’ll have to see what direction she takes, or who she’ll collaborate with.
Lotus marked the singer’s seventh studio album, released in November 2012 on RCA. At the time, she described it as a “rebirth” for her sound and cited her experience on The Voice as inspiration for material.
Again, like Bionic, she went for more of a dance-pop inspired sound, with Max Martin and Shellback contributing to lead single “Your Body.” The track peaked at No. 34 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was then followed by Blake Shelton collaboration “Just a Fool.”
For Aguilera’s hits, Lotus did modestly, peaking at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 with under 100,000 copies sold its first week.
