Christina Aguilera Disowns 'Fat Girl' Comments

The pop superstar's reps have told the press that the recently published comments being associated with Xtina regarding her weight struggles are 'fake.' Christina Aguilera Disowns 'Fat Girl' Comments

Christina Aguilera has disowned the comments that were published by the press earlier this week, in which she was quoted as saying that her record companies forced her to keep her weight in check.

The story was first published by the controversial British tabloid The Sun, according to whom, Xtina told Billboard that the bosses of her record labels pressurized her into keeping a slim body and fake persona against her wishes.

The exact words associated with the "Your Body" crooner were: "During the promotion of my album Stripped, I got tired of being a skinny, white girl. I am Ecuadorian but people felt so safe passing me off as a skinny, blue-eyed white girl. [In 2002] I had gained about 15 pounds during promotion and during my Stripped tour. They called this serious emergency meeting about how there was a lot of backlash about my weight.

"I told them during this Lotus recording, 'You are working with a fat girl. Know it now and get over it. They need a reminder sometimes that I don't belong to them'. It's my body... My body is just not on the table that way anymore."

But now Aguilera's representatives have informed the press that "the quotes are fake" and their client made no such comment during her interview with Billboard last month. The interviewing publication has since verified her claim.

US Weekly had also published a similar report based on unconfirmed quotes provided by The Sun, although they have since taken down that story.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the quotes were originally sourced from a post on microblogging website Tumblr.com, although it remains unclear whether or not Aguilera was the actual poster of those comments.
