Christina Aguilera Already Writing ‘Lotus’ Follow Up
In a recent letter to fans, Christina Aguilera started discussing her next album, a follow-up to last year’s Lotus. In it, she describes writing new music but issues a precaution, telling them not to expect new songs any time soon.
She says, "I like to be thoughtful and take my time. I can never force anything or rush something not ready. Quality has always mattered to me over quantity."
Speaking about already writing a significant amount of material and being influenced by The Voice, she explained: "Recent and new creativity has been freshly infused and inspired in me, and I can’t wait to share with you all of my new personal growth and discoveries. I’m writing a lot these days. Inspired thoughts overflowing first thing in the morning, onset at the Voice, and on into the night. Pen & paper always at my side. Like an old best friend- eager and ready to take it all in."
Compared to her previous efforts, Lotus disappointed. While the album, considered to be a “rebirth” after Bionic, opened at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 with 73,408 units for its first week, the sales ended up being a significant drop from its predecessor’s.
Out of the tracks released as singles from Lotus, the only one garnering a moderate level of success was “Your Body,” out in September 2012.
Although Aguilera might not release any new music for a while, what would you like her next studio album to sound like?
