Chris Martin Will Reveal About Divorce from Gwyneth Paltrow in ‘Ghost Stories’
When it comes to the recent split between Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay’s Chris Martin, many have wondered about the frontman’s side, particularly after the actress’ GOOP post about “conscious uncoupling.” Although he’s implied in previous interviews that he didn’t agree with her lifestyle, he explained something different in a recent interview with BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe.
Particularly, he said that Coldplay’s upcoming Ghost Stories is inspired by their split, both in terms of the negative and positive aspects. He said: "I think in life everyone needs to be broken in some way… I think everyone in their life goes through challenges, whether it's love or money, kids or illness. You have to really not run away from that stuff."
But then he somewhat explained their divorce – and subsequently what you’ll hear on Ghost Stories – as a learning experience: "If you don't let love in then you can't really give it back. So what 'Ghost Stories' means to me is like, you've got to open yourself up to love and if you really do, of course it will be painful at times, but then it will be great at some point."
Ghost Stories comes out on May 19 in North America. Two tracks – “Magic” and “Midnight” – have come out as singles, and “A Sky Full of Stars” is expected as a third early next month.
