Chris Brown Announces Latest Release Date for Album ‘X’
Chris Brown’s supposed last album X (we’ll have to see about that) had been scheduled for a November 2013 release date. However, that time has clearly passed, the album didn’t arrive, and fans are left wondering when the pop star will put out his follow-up to 2012’s Fortune.
Brown now has an answer. The “Turn Up The Music” singer went on Twitter to reveal the release comes out in May 2014. He accompanied that with a black and white image of him covered with a red X. He wrote: "X is by far my best album yet.... Setting the date for MAY 5."
The press surrounding X leans more toward a return to Brown’s R&B roots. While Fortune went in a dance direction, singles from X have tended to be a bit all over the place. So far, the tracks released have included “China Doll,” “Love More” with Nicki Minaj, “Don’t Think They Know” with Aaliyah, “Nobody’s Perfect,” two versions of “Loyal,” and “Wildcat.”
At the time X was supposed to drop, Brown put out a mixtape instead, titled X Files. Since that point, he revealed that listeners should expect two albums for Summer 2014: X and a release called Fan of a Fan. So we’ll see what Brown has in store.
As Brown said he would retire last summer after this album, do you think, based on what you’ve heard from X so far, that this is a good decision, or should he keep on going?
